Most people only care about..

The direction the classes are heading isn’t anywhere good. Everything is getting toned down and less exciting to play. Sooner or later, Barbs, Demo, Assassins, HoX, Ranger will only be a shell of themselves also.

Before people jump up and down and point and say but but…

So, in a couple of months, AoC will be swarming with lack age of conan gold lustered classes that aren’t unique or defined in anyway.

Now that ToS got nerfed or fixed age of conan gold or destroyed, some are yelling for more, most are laughing and pointing. Yet, they don’t see how the AOE nerfs totally destroyed the class’ identity.

they needed the nerfed. Fine. A nerf. Tone down our damage, but not our class definition.

People only care about classes being OP. They clearly don’t care about the heading of the game.

Level 38: Mirrored Iron 1/3. A *very* solid 1 pointer for AOEing. This causes your Protection of Set to occasionally proc ~250 damage on anything that attacks you. Further points only increase the damage dealt by 10% each. (Too bad it’s not +chance to proc by 10%.) A no brainer for fighting lots of mobs at once.

Level 68-69: Unleashed Power 2/2. Some might argue that this spell isn’t needed, but I see it as being useful for those pesky ranged mobs. This will make your “green circle” bigger for SB and IoA, allowing you to more easily include ranged mobs in your AOE while still hitting the melee mobs on you. Getting casters down is a priority after all.

Level 80: Agonizing Jolts 1/1. A mostly useless talent because the snare doesn’t kick in until the first tick of damage 2 seconds after you start channeling. It *does* not stop channeling in PVP based on range though, as far as I know, so if someone runs at extremely low health and happens to not use a pot, this might kill them. Channeling it then stopping when the first tick happens in PVE doesn’t do much, since you could just precast a Shockstrike and achieve the same mob HP when it reaches you. Pick it up earlier instead of 1 point in Bombardment if you want, in which case you’d finish Bombardment here.

Level 49: Nothing, save your feat point for 50, we have 30 points in Havoc now.

Level 33-37: Archmage 5/5. This spell doesn’t affect you quite so much in the 30’s, but very soon you’re going to need it a lot more than the other options. This spell is critical for keeping your IoA and Hellfire Stream damage from degrading as you level.

Level 52-53: Quickened Iron 3/3. Put off filling out Wicked Bolts for now, it’s imperative to stop getting that pesky empty shield debuff! Wicked Bolts is a great spell, but the extra points increase your PVP viability mostly, and this is an AOE build before it’s a PVP build (though I don’t think it’s a gimp PVP build).

Level 80: Mirrored Iron 2/3 and 3/3. There’s not much left in the trees, and this *will* increase your AOE damage to some extent. don’t forget Protection of Set applies to party member too, so even if you’re not tanking mobs will still be reflecting on themselves. It’s only +20% damage per proc though, no proc chance increase unfortunately.

Level 58-59: Nothing, save your points.

Level 78-79: Possession 2/2. Basically this spell incapacitates/stuns the enemy for 5 seconds. However, it’s a 5 second channel before it goes off, so using it in the middle of a fight to gain the upper hand is practically worthless. you might use it as an opener to keep the enemy from doing anything for 5 seconds while you wind up on them, that way the channeling is pre-combat. This means you’re not opening with max range Shockstrike though. :/ Alternately in a group this spell becomes more useful since you have teammates to keep killing while you do the channeling and possession.

Level 60-61: Thunderclap 5/5. You should have 4 points at 60 and get the 5th at 61. This is a HUGE spell in terms of AOE survivability. Maxing it out is a big priority, you should use this spell very often to keep yourself alive against hard hitting pulls.

Level 50: Overload Shockblast 2/3 and Wicked Bolts 1/5. If you don’t feel like putting a point in Quickened Iron you can save an extra point and get 3/3 Overload Shockblast this level. I don’t recommend not getting Wicked Bolt, it’s an entirely new spell, and an instant cast CC at that! It’s amazing for stopping casters or throwing in while waiting on SB to reduce damage taken.

Level 63: Purge 1/1. Instant cast, no cooldown, this is a good PVP feat. Many classes can remove your CCs or just simply need to be CCed again to be beaten, and removing the 60 second immunity they gain after your first root lets you throw the other one back on and regain the upper hand. We are very squishy for melee, so CCing them is a high priority. And hey, it’s just one point.

Level 44-48: Bombardment 5/5. Leaving out the crappy pet aoc gold and storm chains feats (honestly I think storm chains breaks too easy for any points in improving its damage to be worth it, and you’re going to get the rest of your CC in a few levels), as well as the Shockstrike splash talents, this is all that’s left. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really great talent. Remember when I mentioned pulling more mobs with Shock/Shockstrike? This talent augments that ability perfectly. I’d almost pick it up even earlier if there weren’t other feats to get. If you are single pulling you can get far more casts off than before, and it’s amazing for PVP.

Level 24-28: Earth Recharge 5/5. Another amazing AOE grinding regen spell. The mana gained is *very* significant when using our expensive AOE spells.

Level 51: Overload Shockblast 3/3. The third point doubles the damage increase from this amazing talent, quite possibly the most important feat in an AOE build. While it sucks waiting a level to get it, overall, it’s just one level. Shockblast should really be tearing through mobs now, with the AOE root and wicked bolts that you also get at level 50, you’ll feel like a new class!

Level 40-43: Rapid Recharge 5/5. There’s a bit of a grey area concerning the points in the next few levels. Basically you need to have 30 points in the tree by level 50, and you have 2 routes to choose from. Personally I never use Shockstrike for splash damage, so Discharge and Chained Shockstrike are worthless to me. You are perfectly welcome to pick them up if you prefer using Shockstrike in your AOE cycles or on mere 2 pulls though. With our mana talents though, you can use SB and IoA with impunity, there’s nothing stopping you from Shockblasting down just 2 mobs. Improving the cooldown on Shock lets you kill your primary target faster in just the same way as Shockstrike though, and is more versitile (instant cast vs. 2.5 seconds).

Level 75-77: Tome of Erlik 3/3. Another burst damage talent, again mostly a PVP talent. Stacking this and Lore of Skelos can actually bring you up to par with the PVP damage of most other classes. And again, feel free to use them to bring down especially large or difficult pulls in PVE too.

Level 54-57: Wicked Bolts 5/5. You need 5/5 to get our next amazing spell, and lets face it, who doesn’t want a huge knockback? It’s great in PVP (when it works), and every second counts when you knock back a melee mob.

Level 64-67: Mystical Attunment 5/5. More damage to all our spells. No brainer.

Level 10-14: Swift Shockstrike 5/5. The only option.

Level 29-32: Mage Blood 5/5. It’s time to start hitting the general tree, getting an awesome mana talent is just bonus.

(Level 62+ Note: We’re going back to the general tree now, as we have everything in Havoc that helps us AOE. There are several ways you can go about maxing this tree, depending on your focus. I will present one order for points, but you can mix and match to get what you feel necessary first. See discussion in this post.)

Level 39: Quickened Iron 1/3. This is where you really start wishing you had more points. You will start noticing a lot more Empty Shield debuffs in the 40’s, which this feat fixes, but because we need to prepare for the best talent in the Havoc tree, filling this feat out is going to have to wait.

Level 70: Lore of Skelos 1/1. Nice damage increasing spell, you should get the most use out of this spell in PVP (stack it with pacts). For one point, there’s no reason not to pick this up, you can even use it to bring down mobs when you over aggro accidently. Remember to always use all the cooldowns you have available to you!

Level 70-74: Specter Chant 5/5. Another mana talent. With the way our spells’ mana cost tends to skyrocket, and throwing in Lore of Skelos’ increases, you can never have enough mana regen, especially with AOE spells.

Level 20-23: Overload 5/5. This is an amazing spell, age of conan gold and if you want to be a true AOE grinder, you need all the regen spells you can get. It’s especially useful when using high mana cost spells like SB and IoA. With 5/5 it procs a charge almost every single AoE cast.

Level 62: Mystical Attunment 1/5. More damage, it unlocks the next Tier for us, and the rest of the Shield feats are borderline useless.

(Level 78-80: These talents are mostly throw away. You already have the non-broken and important spells for our class, these are fluff. If Funcom fixes some of our broken talents, these would be the first to go. Especially something like Crimson Shield. If that feat added to the Damage Absorb per hit properly, it would be a MUST HAVE. See discussion in this post.)

The reason this puzzles me is that because as of age of conan gold right now, there do not seem to be many punishments for dying in PVP combat. You don’t even need to get your tombstone. I suppose I can understand that it is just irritating and you would rather not be bothered, but honestly, how often does running actually work against players? Especially casters with root/snare CC?

I am a level 57 guardian on a PVP server.

You might as well stand and fight. Are people doing this because they don’t want the “bad rep” of losing being attached to their name/guild? Because they don’t want the PVP ratio in their “attributes” tab to be bad? Because, at least in my opinion, it is worse to be known as someone who runs from a fair fight. Hell, even if it is unfair, and my character is being ganked by six ToSes twenty levels above me, my character still doesn’t run. It isn’t even about my roleplaying an unfearing guardian. It’s about not being age of conan gold a whimp and realizing that on a PVP server in a new, not-quite-yet-balanced game as the main tank class you are going to get killed.

I have recently seen a lot of people, when asked what their strategy is against caster players (especially priests), say “run and hide”, or something to that effect.

So for those of you who subscribe to this methodology, please let me know, why? Or were you just being cynical about the lack of balance, and do not actually subscribe to this “tactic”? Thank you.

1.6.3 Contributor to a group (Endgame instancing)

So yeah, know which feats get the dps you want, but make sure you don’t exclude some degree of mitigation/survivability/tank feats as most every group will want you to step up and tank a bit. Also, don’t split age of conan gold your feats evenly between the trees for the buffs, as this essentially makes you master of nothing. I tried it, and it just doesn’t work very well.

This is what I mean: let’s say there’s a group of 5 people, looking to grab a 6th. Assuming they have a few strong dps classes, they may very well decide to opt for the group-friendliness and added dps/utility a conqueror has. However, if you’re simply set on doing nothing but dps, most groups will think you’re pretty gimp. And rightly so. We’re not breaking records on dps with this class, guys. Understand there’s going to be many situations where 1 tank just ain’t enough. Especially when everyone is slowly getting to 80 their first time - no one’s really going to have the gear to tank two or three level 81 elites. Most groups will expect you to be able to tank, and do it well, so keep that in mind when you spec. If you’re specced nothing but dps into carnage, you’re not just hurting yourself- you’re hurting your group as well.

The idea that we might do nothing other than throw an occasional battle rez to our group members is deliciously absurd. It’s not going to blow away an assassin or barbarian, but we do have the best dps of our archetype - so if we’re not tanking, let’s represent that! There are benefits to both carnage and brute, though with improved inspire age of conan gold the ranks broken, brute tree has far more favorable group-friendly buffs (self buffs available there add to your group versatility - explained later). Improved furious inspiration is arguably one of the more useful things we can do for our group. If they fix the feat for imp. inspire, then I’d prefer carnage for buffs (war lord, imp. inspire the ranks, imp. fire weave), though this could hardly be looked at so one-dimensional..

at lvl 10 you get medium and at lvl 30 you age of conan gold upgrade to heavy armor

Everyone in front of the conqueror gains a damage absorption, First rank at lvl 60 is 10 damage absorbed seems to scale 1 point a level.

My build for maximized group support(what we are in reality for grp fights) and damage with invul talents taken to help when they train me.

Once the stack is at ten, each additional application seems to heal the party for 20 again, and everytime you attack you can proc the group ressurection.

Adds DPS to the groups weapons, it does not add to your top end by the listed amount, it adds to your DPS, at rank 2 it can add 10 top end to your weapon.

Ranged and magical attacks have a chance to heal everyone behind you when attacked. Heals for about 30 and scales with level.

DW PVE DPS:

Conquerors are allowed 1 defensive and 1 offensive aura up at a time, they last for 4 hours or unless killed in PvE.

when charging do not use any abilities until after you have swung your weapon. charge only closes the distance, it has no root or stun component but it can be used in combat.

2% damage increase last 20 seconds

Battle Orders:

being able to kill in frenzy stance and using cunning deflection is a great help. As for Brute and Carnage either are good to level up, on a pvp server Brute would help alot with the snare and knock down i know some people want to get those before going soldier.

obtained at level 45, our group stam regen, ticks every 3 seconds. rank 1 is 42 and currently rank 2 is 60 stam every 3 seconds. (stacks with warlord)

Cover Command:

Everyone in front of the conqueror has a chance to deal retribution damage on their attack. Damage dealt was 10 at lvl 60, adds 1 point per level after it so far.

Each stack adds a 2% damage increase, at 4 stacks you proc a 20 point group heal, and at 10 stacks group in combat instant rez.

(a very good skill, and becomes amazing with feats)

you can sub out hulk if you want, it’s optional

also if you are sure the target wont move, queuing up burst of aggression, cunning deflection or crushing onslaught is a good idea.

Defiance: When furious inspiration is up you can use this as a small heal, with improved it also does a 2 tick stam and mana heal. At 75 it heals for 200 BUT it does 2 ticks of 312 stam and 312 mana, which is very nice for a minute cooldown.

Throat Slash(DW/2H):

(note: i currently avoid most bottom tier abilities because they’re either not that great or have a really long reuse time where something just as useful can be gotten instead)

There is only 1 rank of charge, and yes as i’m sure you all noticed it has many fun bugs, and by fun i mean shoot me now.

adds ranged and spells damage to everyone behind you, 53 spelldamage and 12 ranged damage at level 60, scales with level.

blade weave will show up as a debuff by your stance so once it is used FI can instantly be reapplied. 30 second cooldown.

Adds a Cold damage proc to your weapon, when it procs it also decreases the targets DPS for a short time.

Commands: these work on the conqueror

hold Ctrl and clicking the + will add all available points into that skill.

2 second cast time, duration 1 second to everyone infront of you.

next attack will snare the target by 95% for 6 seconds, 1 minutecooldown (no cooldown if you don’t use it)

(Obtained at 50, i’ve only tested it a few times but on average the damage was around 10-11 couldn’t find the listed amount of DPS is decreased)

This Buff you get stacks up to 10 times and can be refreshed and stay at this mark for as long as someone takes damage, duration is 15 seconds.

FireWeave:

Most aura’s when you first get them aren’t exactly the greatest buffs ever, but as you level they increase in rank and of course there are ones preferred over others

Adds a Fire damage Proc to your weapon, when it hits it increases fire damage taken by the listed amount, this buff is affected by frenzy stance.

Everyone in front of the conqueror will gain a small amount of health and stam when attacked. Looks like it heals 15-20 stam and health a hit, scales about a 1 point with each level past 60.

Furious inspiration is a group proc, basically when you are in a party and someone is attacked there is a chance Furious inspiration will become active.

Marshal the ranks:

restores 9 stam every 2 seconds for 30 seconds to everyone behind you, seems to give 1 extra stamina each level.

Vitalize the ranks:

Against the odds: Last 15 seconds, adds 1% of invulnerability for each person near you(max 10 so 10%). Cooldown 30 seconds.

*NOTE* after testing, both Lumbering Hulk (improved) and Heroic call (improved) Scale with level making them very nice abilities.

**Note on Scaling** WHen i mention does not scale, it means as you level this ability never increases, ie be it lvl 15 or lvl 80 Battle Orders will always be a 2% damage multiplier.

Combo WhirlWind: 4 step combo, VERY high damage(had 2 of the 4 final hits crit for 1,400 with imp hulk/heroic call up). 2 minute cooldown.

For leveling i’d recommend spending points in the soldier tree,

Each swing restores 10 health and 4 stamina

**Aura’s**:

For leveling solo or group i’d recommend bandaging with fast healing and recovery with fast recovery. They both take effect during rest and if kept at least 1/2 of the max amount of skill they can restore 20-25% of your health and stam bar per tick. Also putting points into climb when necessary isn’t a bad idea either. at 80 i would max endurance, hide, climb. ALso as a tank maxing taunt is very helpful.

The composition, recruitment and activity are the main topics that require feedback from the community. The feedback you provide will help shape this program into something everyone wants. So please be constructive and hopefully we can have another feedback channel from the player to the developer.

I wanted to start a discussion on aoc gold some type of class lead program for the community. As we progress through the coming months, we will need as much feedback from the community as possible. So that means we might need a group of volunteers to help be the voices of the community in regards to classes.

The class lead program will consist of 24 community volunteer representatives assigned in pairs to each class in Age of Conan.

The class leads will have two separate lists for their class.

1. Top ten list composed of the main concerns and wishes of the class.

The idea is pretty straight forward and it’s a program we have done before with previous games. However, the introduction is not something we just want to toss out there without feedback from the community first. So I will try to sum up on the initial program structure for community input on each aspect.

6. Posts from any level Assassins are fine, so long as they are speaking in context of their experiences at the level they are addressing the reader for. I.e. a lv 20 assassin giving tips on level 80 PVP might be out. But level 20 PVP tips are just fine =)

This board tends to have very little helpful or constructive info on the front page. I did a bit of digging only to find a few good posts that really should be stickied, since many newcomers to the class will visit these boards and be discouraged by the ratio of whine posts to informational ones.

BKB is currently following an open recruitment policy based on trust and respect. We are seeking skilled PvPers, talented crafters, ruthless pirates, rich merchants, and witty diplomats. Our open policy does, however, require the regular use of our forums, Mandatory use of Vent and the following of our code of ethics. This should be no problem, as our forums are highly active and our Vent Server is always occupied. We welcome all players and offer an initial amount of respect to all, but as soon as anyone gives us a reason to disrespect them, we will ask them to leave our ranks.

Our guild Black Knight Brotherhood, or more simply BKB, was formed almost 9 years ago. During those Nine years, we have accumulated over 2500 members from 16 countries with experience in many MMORPGs including WWII Online, SWG, DAOC, LOTR and EVE and many, many other games. In each of these games, BKB has set a precedence of forming well known, respected, and highly successful guilds. Our officers and members together have experience in hundreds of different games.

Currently we are in Full Ramp up for AOC. We need player input on city building, economics, diplomacy, and combat tactics. As soon as you are accepted, you can jump right in the member forums and Vent Server and give your own input. Everyone’s opinion matters.
